CBSC, which opened on 18 April, made the most of the glorious weather over the Easter period with new members and their guests signing up for coaching sessions and trying out the new rinks.

The family friendly atmosphere continued on Easter Monday with the Club organising a “nearest the Jack” competition [both in the morning and again in the afternoon].  The competition was organised by Nuala Atkey (Sports/Activities Secretary) and Terry Gormely (one of our Club’s Sports Coaches) who ensured strict adherence to the Rules! Tension mounted in the adults’ competition with the Coach carefully measuring the nearest wood for first, second and third places (see results below). The winner was Pat Collison whose third Wood nestled right against the Jack (a toucher!). Pat’s Easter Egg win was all the more special as she only became a member on the same day and had never bowled before!

Club Trustee and Parish Councillor, Brian Foster, was thrilled to introduce his twelve year old twin grandchildren to the sport and a little sibling rivalry was the order of the day when Amy bowled within 2.5 inches of the Jack on her second attempt with Jake taking second place with good grace, in the junior competition.
