On Bank holiday Sunday 26th May 36 bowlers joined in the first friendly triples competition held at the bowls club. It was great to see so many people using the rinks in a competitive format whilst still enjoying themselves. After finishing runners up in their group, Teresa Attlee, Brian and Jo Dufty went on to edge out the team of John Stafferton, Carol and Barry Carter in the Plate final.

In the group winners draw, there was a shock in the first semi-final when the novice team of Jo Barr, Julie MacMillan and Jo Fanning dominated the experienced team of Peter Crowley, Brian Foster and Colin Hobdon. In the second semi final, it was a very close fought match between the team of: Martin Sparshott, Ruth and Norm Bell; against Paul Barr, Paul Macmillan and Barry Fanning. Eventually the latter team nudged ahead in the final end.

This meant that the Final was contested between husbands and wives. A bitter rivalry usually contested at pub quizzes! Similar to those battles, the men kept their nerves and were victorious. Ultimately though, everyone had fun and the club had a fantastic atmosphere for the afternoon. Thanks must be given to Biscoe Solicitors for their generous donation for first and second prizes. I would also like to thank Jo, Julie and Jo for all of their efforts with the catering.

Apart from Roll ups and coaching. This was the first friendly competition and it was great to see so many members enjoying the club.
