ST PATRICK'S DAY ROLL UP, Thursday, 13 March 2025
The weather was 🥶on Thursday for the Roll Up, but the Irish eyes were 😊and the banter and the Irish jokes kept us warm!
Even though only 10 turned up to play, laughter was the order of the day!!
At one stage I thought David had a fixed grin on his face! Turned out his face was frozen!!! 😝
I forgot to bring my leprechaun but the gallant David O'Loffer(!) took his place and knelt on the rinks so members could aim at him!
All players turned out in 💚. The prize for the most green layers went to Phil.
Nearest to the Leprechaun was Debbie (with her bowl I must add!)

MEN'S SINGLES KNOCKOUT COMPETITION, Thursday, 20 February 2025
Despite the rain the Men's Singles Knockout Competition went ahead. It was necessary for the bowlers to 'run for the hills' (i.e., the Pavilion😂) on some occasions for a drink to let the heavy rain subside!

VALENTINE'S DAY ROLL UP, Thursday, 13 February 2025
It was a freezing afternoon for the 
valentines 
roll up .
But the warmth from the 
hearts of the players radiated through the rinks and the Pavilion!
Nearest bowl to Jack Valentine was Steve Irons, who went head to head with David Lougher.

MINCE PIE ROLL UP, Thursday, 19 December 2024
Considering how cold it was there was a good turn out for the 'Mince Pie' roll up – 18 nembers turned up to play!
Many of them joined in the festive theme and wore a Christmas hat so there was lots of fun and laughter throughout, until the doors to the rinks were opened!!!! 
The prize for the most festive hat went to Steve Irons.

ST ANDREW'S DAY ROLL UP, Thursday, 28 November 2024
Although it was very cold, 8 members turned up for the roll up to celebrate St Andrew's Day and another 8 joined us for tea/coffeee!!
Most members were adorned with a little tartan but we missed Tom in his kilt – he was worried it would be a bit chilly for his sporran!! 😜

'BONFIRE NIGHT' ROLL UP, Tuesday, 5 November 2024
The 'Bonfire Night' Roll Up was a great success with 20 members turning up to play.
Before the 'main event' we played a charity game, Nearest the Glitter Ball.
Congratulations to Steve Irons who delivered the closest bowl.
We raised £17 for Dementia UK, Nuala's charity of choice.
Thanks to those who dressed up in colourful outfits.
The most impressive outfit was worn by our very own Chairman, Brian Foster.
Congratulations Brian.
In the Roll Up there were two joint winners, both pairs scoring 18 points. Congratulations to:

BOWLS DRIVE, followed by Fish/Pie & Chips Supper, Friday, 6 September 2024
Despite the poor weather conditions a number of members gathered for the Bowls Drive/Quiz before being joined by more members for the Fish/Pie & Chips Supper.

AUTUMN KNOCKOUT COMPETITION, Saturday, 31 August 2024
On Saturday, 31 August 2024, 32 players gathered to do battle. It was an excellent, very enjoyable day and stayed unusually dry! Thanks go to Caroline for organising the event so professionally. The results were as follows.

SUMMER TOURNAMENT 2024 – sponsored by Webster Associates
The Summer Tournament is a Mixed Singles Tournament that started on 1 May 2024 and ran until late in August 2024. Over 100 matches were played by the 38 bowlers who took part in Round 1 alone! Those who had scored most points moved on to Round 2 after which we had a winner and a runner up.
This event was sponsored by Webster Associates. Jonathan Harris and Lauren Angell of WA spent the day of the Autumn Knockout Challenge with us. While there they presented the trophies to the winner and runner up of the Summer Tournament. The results were as follows:

MEON VALLEY FRIENDLY MATCH (Home), Wednesday, 3 July 2024
We played the return match against Meon Valley on IWednesday, 3 July 2024 (having played them on their grass surface earlier in the season and been beaten) and, well, what a corker!! Bottom line is the weather mercifully was kind and (just) held off raining and in the final analysis CBSC won the match by just one point! It was a cracking game against a very good league playing side and the rink scores were as follows:

BOWLS DRIVE, Friday, 21 June 2024
On Friday, 21 June 2024, the players gathered to do battle in this competition. The teams of 2 were announced and the order of play that meant each pair played all the others was explained. Luckily, these details, together with the rink number on which each game should be played were available in print under each score board!!
Once all the games were played the scorecards on which each pair recorded the number of points won and lost in each game were handed in to David Lougher. The result was very tight with 2 pairs scoring the same number of points but the winning pair had 1 point less scored against them!!
Congratulations to the winners, Sue Restell and Beryl Bridgman and the runners up, Mike Richardson and Geeti Granger.
All those involved thanked Jo and David Lougher for organising this challenging but very enjoyable event.

LIPHOOK FRIENDLY MATCH (Home), Wednesday, 19 June 2024
Well done all who stepped up to represent their Club in the Liphook match yesterday – we had great weather, fine company and were rewarded with another win against a good side who are represented with teams in the Three Counties Leagues!

Also, thank you to Tom who was unable to play but still offered to turn up and help which is always appreciated as the ladies can be very busy at certain times during the afternoon.

ARUNDEL FRIENDLY MATCH (Home), Thursday, 30 May 2024
Despite some rather dire predictions about the weather, the Knights & fair Maidens of Arundel Castle did indeed come galloping over the horizon to visit CBSC and what a fabulous day was had by all! In the end the ominous black clouds seemed to mostly steer a course around us and our guests were great company, albeit very accomplished bowlers and in one case an ex England player!
That said, despite all 4 of our teams getting off to a very poor start, we managed to put up a superb fight back, winning the game overall by 63-47! Well done everyone!!

It would be easy to underestimate just what an impact this level of hospitality has but I am sure Brian will back me up when I say at the end we had several of our guests come up to say thank you and comment on the 'astonishing hospitality'! Great show ladies – thank you so much.
I would also like to thank Beryl for agreeing to be reserve and offering to handle some of the pre-match administration – nice one .
AND FINALLY...
There is no doubt in my mind that this was one of our 'special' friendly matches for many reasons but one key thing was the open friendliness of our visitors who are now keen to respond in kind with an invitation to visit their Castle on Tuesday, 23 July 2924 (Note for diaries).

SPRING KNOCKOUT COMPETITION, Thursday, 25 April 2024
On Thursday, 25 April 2024, 32 players gathered to do battle in this most enjoyable event.
We started with everyone playing in an eight end first round, with winners going forward in the Challenge competition and those who came second going on to the Plate. There followed parallel knockout competitions. Many of the games were exciting and very close and they were certainly enjoyed by all who played. Eventually we reached the state of the two finals and these lived up to the entertainment of the rest of the afternoon, even if the eight people who competed in them practically needed water wings to complete!
Very many thanks to Caroline and Ivor, Glenda and Mike and to all those others who helped in any way to make it such a very happy day.
